According to Indian Meteorological Service (IMD), a low formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal on September 24, which intensified today and is then expected to form a cyclone in the next 12 hours on September 25 that will cross southern Odisha.
TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPSODL) has put in place a detailed business continuity and disaster management plan (BCDMP) to deal with this cyclone.
The BCDMP includes categories of disasters according to severity as well as a corresponding action plan, a disaster management structure to systematically receive disaster alerts, review them, send pre-disaster alerts and design a mechanism to invoke and revoke the BCDMP. A simulation exercise to verify the response of the plan is also in progress. TPSODL is always ready to respond to any eventuality and is ready to meet the customer’s power supply needs.

As a safety measure, TPSODL asks everyone in affected areas not to do the following: Do not touch any wires or plumbing inside a building during lightning strikes as telephone lines / metal pipes can conduct electricity
Do not shelter under a tree / any temporary structure in strong wind, thunderstorm and downpour
Do not touch any electrical installation with wet hands or without using gloves, safety shoes or insulated platform
Do not let children play near storm sewers after it rains
