P2.7B Arayat-Mexico solar park to increase Luzon’s energy supply
A partnership between AC Energy and Citicore to develop the 72 megawatt Arayat-Mexico solar park in Pampanga is expected to boost energy supply in Luzon.
According to a press release, the solar project is a 50-50 joint venture with an estimated development cost of 2.7 billion pesos and is expected to be commissioned by Q1 2022.
“It will be a vital contribution in Luzon, where the energy industry works twice to ensure a stable power supply,” the statement said.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by executives from AC Energy led by Chairman and CEO Eric Francia and Citicore Chairman Oliver Tan.
Also present were the mayor of Arayat Emmanuel Alejandrino and other stakeholders.
“One of the successes of AC Energy is the ability of our team to work with different partners and we are delighted to jointly develop this solar project with Citicore,” said Francia.
“Together, we will help increase the capacity of the grid if needed during the very tight electricity supply situation as our economy recovers from the effects of the pandemic,” he added.
“We are grateful to play an important role in this sustainable infrastructure project, especially in terms of stimulating local employment, supporting regional economies and creating a more stable environment and
reliable power supply, ”Tan said.
“We are committed to providing our expertise through innovative renewable energy solutions to help accelerate the transition to renewable energy in consumers’ energy needs,” he added.
