  • With this new PPA, in addition to the one signed earlier this year with Alcoa, Greenalia confirms its commitment and support to Spanish industry, especially in Galicia, at a critical time for post-pandemic economic recovery and for the transition energy if necessary

The renewable energy producer Greenalia has reached an agreement with the multinational Showa Denko to supply its Galician facilities with green energy. Thus, the company takes a new step in its commitment to offer energy solutions to electro-intensive companies located in the territory.

As indicated in the proposal, Greenalia will supply part of the energy that will be produced by Orzar and Tornado Wind Farms, projects planned in the municipalities of Carballo, Val do Dubra, Tordoia and Trazo. These installations, with a total capacity of 123.2 MW, will contribute to improving the competitiveness of electro-intensive activity.

The two wind farms, currently in the authorization phase and classified as priority projects, will channel more than 100 million euros of investment and will mobilize nearly half a thousand jobs in the construction phase.

Regarding the technical characteristics of the wind farms (WF), Orzar WF (56 MW) will be located between the municipalities of Carballo and Tordoia. It provides for the installation of 10 wind turbines with a unit power of 5.6 MW, a hub height of 105 meters and a rotor diameter of 150 meters. Meanwhile, Tornado WF (67.2 MW) will be made up of 12 turbines and located in the municipalities of Carballo, Tordoia, Val do Dubra and Trazo. Like Orzar, the WF will have 105 hub heights and 150 m rotor diameter and 5.6 MW of unit turbine power.
